REMINDER: DC 295 Ramp Closures and 20-minute Stoppages Start Tonight

Starting tonight the District Department of Transportation (DDOT) will be conducting a major traffic shift for the opening of the new southbound DC 295 flyover bridge.


The following ramps will be temporarily closed starting at 10 pm tonight through 3 pm tomorrow afternoon:

Effective October 1, 2011, the District Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) will increase fees on select Driver’s License and Vehicle Registration services. The cost to obtain a Residential Parking Permit (RPP) will have two fee categories. For a senior, defined as over the age of 65, who is the primary vehicle owner, the RPP will increase to $25. For all other registered drivers, the RPP fee will increase to $35.

Metro Track Work to Affect Travel to Saturday's Chris Brown Concert at Verizon Center

Metro will be conducting major track work the weekend of September 16 through 18 on the Blue and Yellow lines. All Yellow line trains will be re-routed over the Blue line starting on Friday, Sept. 16 at 10:00 p.m. through closing on Sunday, Sept. 18. As a result, travel to the Chris Brown concert on Saturday, Sept. 17 at Verizon Center at 7:00 p.m. will be affected. Travelers are asked to add at least an additional 20 minutes to their commute time. For additional details on track work being conducted on Metro this coming weekend please visit www.wmata.com.

Metro To Adjust Select Bus Routes in DC, Virginia

Metro will make several adjustments to bus service, effective September 25, on routes in the District of Columbia and Northern Virginia.  The changes are intended to enhance reliability, improve connections with Metrorail service and match ridership demand.  

District of Columbia Service Changes

•Metro will introduce a new route, number 74, between Gallery Place/Convention Center and the Southwest Waterfront.  The new service, which replaces the southern portion of routes 70 and 71, will operate daily between 5 a.m. and 1 a.m., with service running every 18 minutes during weekday peak periods and every 24 minutes at other times.  More information

(Washington, D.C.) Capital Bikeshare celebrates its one-year anniversary on September 20, punctuating a tremendously successful debut. Since its launch in 2010, the bikesharing system has attracted over 17,000 members, logged nearly one million trips and amassed a total of 116 stations and 1,100 bicycles in the District and Arlington, VA, with more than 60 additional stations on the way.
