National Plug In Day is Sept 23 in Manassas

Northern Virginia’s National Plug In Day event will be Sunday, September 23 from 10:00 am – 2:00 pm at The Manassas Museum, 9101 Prince William Street, Manassas, Virginia.  The event will give you the chance to learn more about electric vehicles (EV) via interaction with private owners and local EV dealers, as well as through vehicle test drives. The event will feature EVs from Sheehy Nissan (Leaf), Malloy Mitsubishi (i-MiEV), and Miller Toyota (Plug In Prius). 

Who Should Attend

EV Owners: Come mingle and swap stories with other owners.

Prospective EV Buyers: Learn more about EVs through interaction with owners and dealers and stick around for a test drive.

Curiosity Seekers: See what all the buzz is about and find out why people are switching to electric.

City Duck Departs DC for Southern Living

Early one Friday morning in June, Donnie the Pekin duck was preparing to fly south—via US Airways. Tucked inside a soft-sided pet carrier, we made our way through the airport, keeping our fingers crossed that Donnie would make it through check-in and security without any trouble. We had called the airline ahead of time to confirm that Donnie would be allowed in the cabin, but knowing that ducks probably aren’t an everyday sight for travelers and airline staff, we proceeded with caution.

Buffett and David Rubenstein, The Economic Club of Washington, DC's President, are among business leaders at 25th anniversary celebration on June 5th where 10 community organizations, including the Alexandria Seaport Foundation, received a total of $500,000 in grants

The Alexandria Seaport Foundation (ASF), which offers disadvantaged youth and young adults a paid, work-based apprentice program in boat building that prepares participants for careers in the building trades, received a $50,000 grant from The Economic Club of Washington, D.C. at its 25th anniversary on June 5th at the Washington Marriott Wardman Park.

From John Lisle: The District Department of Transportation (DDOT) will start to remove stone fascia on the K Street and Massachusetts Avenue bridges over I-395 beginning Monday, June 4, to replace expansion joints on the bridges.

From Sheila Francis: Customers traveling on Metro during the May 18 to 20 weekend will encounter delays on the Orange, Red and Green lines starting on Fri., May 18 at 10:00 p.m. through closing on Sun., May 20. Travelers are being asked to add between 10 - 20 minutes to their commute time depending on which line they will be traveling on.
