Fried Chicken Picnic Baskets at PS7's
Fried Chicken Picnic Baskets at PS7's

From Simone Rathle: It’s the little sounds in life that mean the most… a favorite song on the radio, the clinking of icy glasses of cool drinks, the laughter of friends gathered under the sun, and crispy delicious chicken frying away in the kitchen! Launching Friday, June 8, PS7’s is bringing these familiar summer sounds to its Penn Quarter patio with PS7’s Patio Picnics, fully stocked with all the goods you’ll find in a summer picnic basket.
Executive chef Peter Smith and his team are swapping the white tablecloths for the red-checkered version a la minute if you decide you want the Patio Picnic lunch. Toss away the china and silver for colorful plastic plates and utensils. Get loose as a goose (or chicken!) -- there’s no need to mind your knife-and-fork manners outside. Offered daily at lunch, dinner, and to-go throughout the summer, Peter is finally letting everyone order off the menu kept secret. Fried Chicken that has been soaking in Buttermilk andSeasoning for days, then fried up to that crispy crunch goodness that only your grandmamma knows best to do.
Servers will then skip over with your personalized picnic baskets, stocked with your choice of two sides at lunch [and plumping it up to three sides at dinner,] including heaps of Potato Salad [chef de cuisineAndrew Markert’s family recipe,] jazzed up Pasta Salad, creamy Coleslaw, an assortment of petitPinwheel Sandwiches, killer Deviled Eggs, and fresh baked Cornbread and Biscuits.  Quench your thirst from the heat and wash it all down with a mason jar [or two…] full of sun-drenched Iced Tea, juicy housemade spiked Summer Punch, or fruit-blasted Sangria.  Continue the cooling effect with Chef Peter’s Tropical Shaved Ice, layers of fluffy hand cranked ice drowned in a variety of house made syrups. The sweet finishing touches from pastry chef Lauren Whitledge come in crunchy Cookie and chocolaty Brownie form, leaving you with the comfort of a fully summer-satisfied belly.
