WHS Alumni Update: March 23, 2012

We’re following the journeys of more of our WHS alumni families this Friday!

Koi

“Here are some pictures of Koi in his new home. I thought he would be a little scared at first and hide under the bed, but as soon as we got home he started roaming around the apartment, and he hasn't stopped exploring! Thanks for everything the Washington Humane Society has done for him!”

-Jarrett Gross, Koi’s new companion

Daffodil

“Where to start? She is absolutely wonderful, and I swear we fall more in love with her every day. She loves being outside, loves walks, loves other dogs and loves people.  She has a huge yard to run around in at her new home in Louisiana, plus lots of green space on the levee. She looks really healthy and stops traffic everywhere she goes.”

-Liz Beirise, Daffodil’s adopter

Washington Animal Rescue League to Host Area Shelters at ASPCA Mega Match-a-thon Adoption Event

From Pam Townsend: On March 31 and April 1, six DC-area shelters will converge at a seventh--the Washington Animal Rescue League (WARL)--for a first-ever ASPCA Mega Match-a-thon adoption event. Their goal: to find loving families for as many of the Capital region’s homeless animals as possible.

Celebrate St. Catrick’s Day with WHS This Weekend

Many animals are born in the springtime, and as a result, the Washington Humane Society (WHS) takes in   an abundance of new and young animals in need in our adoption centers. To help cats during the especially busy “kitten season,” we are honoring cats with special needs over St. Patrick’s Day weekend, March 16-18. We are inviting the community to meet adoptable cats and kittens with minor special physical or behavioral needs and help them find homes.

Some cats who will be highlighted are long-time or senior residents, like BangBang, our pet of the week, while others may be finishing a winter cold. Most just require a bit of extra care and attention, and our adoptions counselors are prepared to provide adopters with all the advice and information needed to properly care for these pets and give them the great homes they deserve.
