Peanut
“Peanut is a real blessing. I'm very happy that I took a chance on adopting a special needs senior Chihuahua. He's a really sweet dog and has adjusted very well, and he gets along well with Lil Missy Riverdale, another senior dog who was adopted from WHS the year before. Peanut loves the mini-rawhide chew bones and gets around well indoors and outside, despite his vision problem. He's like having a puppy around all the time.”

Washington Humane Society Celebrates “Senior” Animals in May

From Jacquie Toppings: The Washington Humane Society (WHS) is recognizing long-time and older animal residents during this “graduation” season by waiving all adoption fees on its senior pets this weekend, May 18-20.

“Our adoption centers are temporary homes to hundreds of healthy, family-friendly animals, who became homeless through no fault of their own,” said Stephanie Shain, Chief Operating Officer, Washington Humane Society. “During this especially busy spring ‘baby animal season’ that has filled our facilities with new residents, we have a number of pets who have simply been overlooked, especially our older pets, and they often make perfect laid-back companions for busy Washingtonians.”
