New Nike Shoes Being Sold On eBay For $60,000

New Nike Shoes Being Sold On eBay For $60,000

UPDATE: This eBay listing has been removed from auction.

It's long been rumored that basketball abilities are linked to what kind of shoes players wear.

From my experiences, though, that is incorrect: I was 5'9" and couldn't jump before I put on the old school Allen Iverson-inspired Reebok "Answers", and I was also 5'9" and couldn't jump after I put on the old school Allen Iverson-inspired Reebok "Answers".

These days I stick to soccer.

Anyway, you get the point: People love basketball shoes and we all know some people are willing to pay a hefty pricetag to get their hands on the brand new Nike Whatevers.

It's all well and good to spend a hundred or two hundred bucks on your favorite shoe...but $60,000?!

That's seems to be a bit much.

Are You A Peacock or a Penguin?

On my trip to visit my daughters recently I took a few different books to read. The one I want to share with you is A Peacock in the Land Of Penguins. I believe everyone experiences a time in their life when they don’t fit in…when they want to stand up for themselves for being different from the rest of the pack. Some of us do, most of us do not.

Although this book focuses on the business world, the information is valuable from a business or personal perspective. When your view differences from others, how do you handle it? Are you confident? Do you stay silent or do you go along with the majority? Are you a peacock in the land of penguins?

Bouncing Back Baby!!

In the past few weeks I have focused on resilience because I know from my studies and working with clients the positive impact it can have on our lives. Below are two more skills that can support you in being more resilient. I believe learning to use these skills will help you recover from setbacks more quickly as well as creating a deeper, richer life.

Control or No Control.  Determine what you have control over and what you do not. On a piece of paper, make two columns. On the left side of the page, write Control and on the right side, Not Under My Control. Ask yourself:  What do I have control over? In that column, write down your answers. For example, you can control the television shows my kids watch, your own attitude, the religion you practice, who you choose to socialize with, and so on.

Managing Your Stuff

Ever think to yourself, I don’t have the time for managing my time? Of course, we all have! How do manage all your stuff? How do you decide what to focus on each day?

I have used a system that really helps manage my workflow at home and in the office. David Allen’s system in Getting Things Done has influenced the way I organize my life. Here are five steps that can help.

1. Collect: Everything that is incomplete that you have to do.

2. Process: What is it you have to do? Is it actionable or not?

3. Organize: If it is a non-actionable item then either toss it, use a tickler system as a reminder, or store it as a reference item. If it is an action item ask yourself what the next action step is; second, what is the outcome or result are you committed to?
