This Saturday, May 14, the D.C. Metro community will have the chance to take part in one of the coolest events in the District.

From 10 a.m.-4 p.m., you can take part in the Around the World Embassy Tour, part of Cultural Tourism DC’s Passport DC program.

During the six hour event, more than 30 embassies, representing countries and continents from all over the globe, will welcome visitors into their embassies to give them a taste of their respective nations.

Attendance is absolutely free, and there is no reservation required.  Each embassy will offer a variety of displays, featuring indigenous food and culture, so that "participants can travel the world".

Members of Congress, local athletes, philanthropists and the fashion industry are assembling for DC’s Modus Union Spring 2011 – a unique event supporting prevention and early detection of cancer in women.

Modus Union Spring 2011 features a full runway show by acclaimed fashion designer Marc Bouwer (www.MarcBouwer.com), a 3-D film presentation previewing Bouwer’s Fall 2011 line, and an art installation and silent auction featuring some of the most talented visual artists in DC. The proceeds from this one-of-a-kind gathering will benefit Cancer Schmancer (www.CancerSchmancer.org), an organization founded by actress Fran Drescher to prevent cancer in women through education and early detection.

The Metropolitan Washington Airports Authority and District of Columbia Public Schools are proud to announce the 11th Annual DC Public Schools Citywide Student Art Exhibition at Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport.

The work of more than 300 students from 50 elementary, junior high and high schools will be displayed until May 30 in the baggage claim level of Reagan National’s Terminal B/C. The theme of this year’s exhibition is “Celebration of Artistic Expressions.”
