DC Council passes licenses for undocumented residents

WASHINGTON (WUSA9) -- The DC City Council approved a bill on Tuesday granting access to driver's licenses and ID's for city residents regardless of their immigration status. 

The licenses will be marked to show they belong to undocumented residents.

The DC Drivers Safety Amendment Act of 2013 will go into effect in May 2014.

Recently, California, Vermont, and Massachusetts passed similar bills.

Police: Body found by the Watergate Hotel

WASHINGTON (WUSA9) -- Police say a body of an adult female was found by the Watergate Hotel.

The body was found on Friday afternoon 100 yards south of Thompsons Boat House by the Watergate Hotel, police said.

Police need help in identifying the body which is being described as that of a white female, between 65 and 75 years of age. She was wearing a blue shirt, black pants, black sneakers, a gold-color ring on her left hand and glasses.  Police cannot say if foul-play was involved.

It is not known how the body ended up there, police said. Anyone with information is asked to call the police at (202) 727-9099.

Police: 27-year-old found dead in DC

WASHINGTON (WUSA9) -- Police are investigating a homicide incident in DC. 

It happened at the 400 Block of Shepherd Street, NW. around 2:19 a.m. Officials who arrived at the scene found Joseph David Fowlkes, 27 suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. 

Police are offering a $25,000 reward for any information which leads to an arrest. If you have information call Police at (202) 727-9099. 

Police: Juvenile stabbed outside metro entrance

WASHINGTON (WUSA9) -- A male juvenile was stabbed outside a metro station today in DC, officials said.

The incident happened around 7:13 p.m. at the L'Enfant Plaza Metro Station. According to Police, a fight broke out which led to the stabbing at the 7th St and Maryland Ave SW entrance, police said.

He was taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries, officials said.

DC police seek suspect in 1st degree sexual assault

WASHINGTON, D.C. (WUSA9) -- The Metropolitan Police Department is asking the public's help in identifying a suspect sought in a first degree sexual assault.

On Sunday, Oct. 27, at approximately 5 a.m., an adult female was offered a ride by an unknown male, which she accepted, police said. The suspect drove a short distant  to the area of the 600 block of New York Ave., NW, where he forced the victim out of his car and sexually assaulted her.

The suspect is described by police as a black male, 5 feet 7 inches tall, age 25-30, with a medium build, short hair, and clean shaven face. The suspect was driving a tan SUV of an unknown make and model.

Police ask anyone with information to call 202-727-9099. Additionally, information may be submitted to the TEXT TIP LINE by text messaging 50411.

Double shooting in NW DC claims one life

WASHINGTON, DC (WUSA)--One man is dead and another one sustained serious injuries following a double shooting early Saturday on the unit block of Florida Avenue NW.

DC Police say that officers responded around 1:15am to a report of a shooting in the area of First Street and Florida Avenue NW.

Police say that when officers arrived at the location they found two adult men with gunshot wounds, one of them in critical condition.  Both men were transported to a local hospital where the most seriously injured one was pronounced dead.

Police say they have the suspects in custody but would not elaborate on a motive for the shooting.
